About the Artist
My name is Donna Eckel and I have been the owner of Raggedy D’s Miniatures since 1991. In was in that year that I opened up my miniature shop and remained open for 9 years. In was in the year 2000 when I decided to make a change and I sadly closed my doors. I wanted to concentrate more on the artistry of miniatures and develop my own line. I moved my business home, set up a workshop in a garage apartment on our property, and slowly built up my inventory of foods, dolls, and a few plants. I also took as many workshops as I could attend and I still do. When it was time I started doing shows, teaching workshops, and selling my products through my web site. It soon became apparent that this was a good move for me and I have been enjoying my hobby and my business ever since. I am still learning and growing and still having fun.
I love what I do and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Working on miniatures not only has a calming effect on me but I am able to bring my two dogs, Lizzie and Maia, to work with me every day. My husband is very tolerant of my busy schedule and has been a major support for me over the years. I could not have done this without him. I feel like I have been truly blessed.
